The AMG Provenance // W212 on ADV.1
Power delivery, handling and sound. These are the three pillars that make up the AMG brand as we know now. Established in 1967 by former Mercedes engineers Hans Werner Aufrecht and Erhard Melcher, the company was first founded as a racing engine forge, building custom engines and unofficial accessories for Mercedes Benz’s. Throughout the years, the company has succeeded in building excellently-modified Mercedes Benz cars both for street and racing purposes. However, it wasn’t until 1990 that Mercedes Benz offered AMG to become its official cooperative partner in the aftermarket tuning parts area. Such partnership has then allowed AMG to offer its products within Mercedes Benz showrooms as OEM+ products, and even opened an opportunity for both to co-jointly develop an AMG car; the first being 1993 C36 AMG. Not many people know that it wasn’t until the year 1999 that Mercedes Benz bought 51% shares in AMG and renamed the company into Mercedes-AMG GmbH, thus wholly integrating the AMG brand into Mercedes Benz.
High-displacement engines and exotic sounds are amongst the most well-known characteristics of AMG cars. From C63 to SLS 63, these high performance beasts excel in almost every single performance factor compared to stock Mercedes Benz cars. On top of that, their aesthetics have also been designed to look much meaner than its factory-line produced counterparts. Such advances in design has then lead to the birth of AMG styling packages. From pedal sets to body kits, customers nowadays do not have to purchase AMG cars just in order to experience the AMG lifestyle.
The E sedan you’re looking at today has been installed with aplenty of AMG packages, from body kit to big brake kits. Such OEM+ styling, coupled with carbon fiber Vorsteiner add-ons and black ADV.1 wheels, have conceived a very classy black-on-black machine.
