The Continental Coupe // Lukman’s E Coupe on BC Forged

From the same owner whose GT86 was featured several days ago, here I bring to you his Mercedes Benz E Coupe. A pair of two-doors. One Japanese. The other being European. Two entirely different breed of coupes. Both has been installed with mods that have boosted up their aesthetics and performance areas. But while the GT86 has been planned to be modified since the day it was delivered to his driveway, the E Coupe has gone through a slightly different route.

With a car like the GT86, Toyota has designed it to be as balanced as possible in stock form for the casual buyers, yet at the same time providing a convenient platform for modifiers to retune the balance of the car. Aftermarket parts are aplenty, especially in the performance areas. Even Toyota is developing its own TRD branded parts for the GT86. It is a large market in itself to come up with the latest and coolest upgrades for Toyota’s prominent coupe. After all, much like the AE86, the GT86 is determined to be a car that’s going to live a long life and actively participating in motorsports itself. With such motorsports participations, modifications are of the essence. That’s why Lukman has made up his mind to bring his GT86 up to its full potential ever since Day-1, even with a turbo upgrade coming up. But with the E Coupe, Lukman has been doing things differently.

When it comes to continental rides, things have been built quite differently. More complex. More electronics involved. Even some security system has sometimes been installed to prevent unsafe modifications. But then they are often more luxurious, packing better convenience features. Looking at the E Coupe standing still, a glance is all it takes to admire its curved two-door body. Compact, yet retaining a large bootspace and four-seat sitting arrangements. This makes the E Coupe a very desirable platform on our land, with a yearly increasing population. But when it comes to upgrades, most owners are still quite reluctant to tinker with the ride’s deeper (performance/electronics) systems, with wheels+bodykit+exhaust being the most major mods. Lukman initially planned the same, keeping it safe while enjoying the continental’s daily drivability. However, as time passed by while seeing his GT86 starting to take shape, he can’t resist but to be among the firsts to work on the E Coupe’s performance. If the GT86 can handle it, why can’t the E Coupe?

Through the installation of Valvetronic exhaust system, new air filter, and an ECUTECH tuning box, Lukman has managed to gain an additional 40HP out of his E250. That’s quite a staggering number for the small turbocharged 1.8L engine that came with +-200HP in stock form. “All while maintaining the ride’s drivability and efficiency”, Lukman added.
