Show Off // Ricky’s Civic Type R on BBS
You might’ve seen this Type R being featured on our site some time ago (link). Quick, cunning, and precise are the distinctive factors of this track-intentioned Civic. Today Charles J sent me these pictures showcasing the latest mods that have been installed on the car. Performance-wise, things have generally stayed the same. These recent upgrades have been focused at the exteriors to match the Type R’s aggressive performance. Among the major updates are the BBS wheels and ChargeSpeed bodykit.
Ricky knew early on that exterior areas are going to be the easiest to be done on the car. That’s why he started his build inside out: starting from the engine and handling upgrades first, while doing the “looks” upgrades later. Across his 2-year span in building the car, engine and suspension tunings are amongst the most tricky ones. “Getting a ride to look fast is easy, but to be able to attain that 1s faster laptime requires some serious work”, he said. As hard of works as they can be, the Type R has proven itself to be nothing but satisfying for Ricky. Winning FWD category Time Attack awards have always been a casual thing for this Japanese ride.
Future mods that Ricky currently have on his to-do list are bucket seats and new wheels. We’ll see how great things will turn out!
