Permaisuri Thursday // 6 Series on Modulare
It takes quite an open mind to accept new car designs/concepts these days. Recently you might’ve seen the extreme Lamborghini Veneno, the flamboyant LaFerrari, the alien-lookalike new Lexus IS, the new Cayman and many others. Oops, the Cayman doesn’t belong there; Porsche is surely one of the most conservative these days. Well, thing is, as designers push out the boundaries in constructing unique creations, they often come up with peculiar ideas. Ideas which in time can blossom into classics, or simply be crushed down by consumers instead. A “hit or miss” for sure. For me, the E63 6 Series BMW is one of those creations, especially due to its whale-lookalike trunk.
Despite a mixed initial impression, the 6 Series design turns out to be quite a favorite among BMW fans. The peculiar trunk becomes a design feature instead of a flaw. It looks nothing like other manufacturers’ creations.
What we have today from Permaisuri is an E63 that’s been installed with a set of Hamann bodykit and Modulare C22 wheels. I heard rumors floating around saying that Permaisuri was the one which first came up with the C22’s design, sent it over to Modulare and have the wheels built in physical form by the US company.
