It’s the first Ferrari with a four-wheel drive system. It’s the first Ferrari to be officially styled as a shooting brake. It is also one of the few Ferrari’s having ample boot spaces and four seats. What it is, then, seems to be Ferrari’s attempt in stretching out the usability and practicality of its supercar. The FF can practically be driven on any terrain thanks to its 4WD system, and a golf bag can also be fitted well inside the boot while two friends are comfortably sitting at the back. Is the FF too far of a stretch then? With nearly 2 tons in curb weight and so many compromises on performance, does it still even deserve the Ferrari badge?

Today I’m showing you off this Ferrari FF residing in our homeland country Indonesia. Yes it might’ve gotten too fat due to those additional seats, boot spaces and 4WD system. But looking at it at a different perspective, a regular wealthy buyer’s perspective, the car actually makes sense. Let’s say one wealthy Ferrari fan owns a line up of classic Ferrari cars in his garage just for a collection. He has the 458 for weekends, the 599 for long cruises, and the California for his wife. However, on some occasions he does need to travel for longer suburban trips carrying extra luggages and neither of his Ferrari’s can fill that need. Before the FF world, he’d be most likely driving the Range Rover or the Cayenne. Post FF world, Ferrari can take up that additional market share by fulfilling the needs of such gentlemen. Mind you, the FF is still very much a supercar with its 660bhp engine and throw-at-me-anything attitude during cornerings.

Improving on what’s often considered as an engineering marvel definitely takes up a lot of work and courage. HRE, I believe, is one of the few brands that deserve to be installed in Ferrari’s. Wheels of any lesser quality would render the modification as inappropriate. It’s almost like doing modifications to Gordon Ramsay’s dinner creation. You can perhaps do your personal preference of adding some chili on it, but there’s no way you can pour in poor quality chili without ruining the whole dish. Permaisuri’s suggestion in installing the HRE P45SC on this Ferrari FF is definitely a well-made decision. With its classic non-obstructive styling, lightweight construction and finest grade of material, the P45SC fits the Ferrari badge like sprinkles on top of one tasty ice cream.
