Another Side of Turbine // Donny’s E36 Update
Some like OEM parts. Others like crazy fitments. Most like branded parts. Few can understand classic cars. Throughout my year in developing hawk’n’poke, I’ve met countless different kinds of Indonesian automotive enthusiasts. From successful business owners to tight-on-budget high school students, I’ve seen and appreciated their various views towards automotive modifications. I’ve met young people who are uncommonly huge fans of classic cars, and I’ve also seen older people who have finally been able to afford the supercars of their childhood dreams. Above all these I’ve lived through the culture and am very honored to be involved in it. It’s our culture, the Indonesian car culture. Today I’m showing off this update to Donny’s E36, a man who has managed to make a splash of his own in the Indonesian car culture.
Donny’s car was first featured at hawk’n’poke in the article Deep Off Blue // Donny’s E36. He’s not the most OEM fanatic nor is he the craziest fitment/stance enthusiast. What he does best is in taking care of his classic E36. I’ve seen quite a few restored E36’s. Some were reborn nearly 100% factory fresh. Others were reimagined into stance machines. Donny’s is in the meeting point of these two.
Relying on a set of KW Suspensions coilovers at lowest setting, Donny has managed to pull off some of the best looks that E36 can do. With the plentiful sets of wheels he own, he can switch from OEM look to a retro-aftermarket look easily. This most current setup captured by Eric Tanzil at Riverside relies on a set of Turbine wheels taken off an E34 M5. A very rare set of wheels indeed.
The interior has also been updated with a set of red BMW Klassikrot leather kit.
