True Black // Matte Black GT86 on BC Forged
For most people, the easiest and most attractive way to be different in the kaleidoscope of car culture is to have bright unusual colours painted over the car’s body. Edbert’s Odyssey, for example, demonstrates how the attractive red candy paint has transformed the family van into a stylish VIP ride. Some, however, are going the exact opposite route. Murdering out the car’s appearance with black and grey hues to absorb all the lights surrounding it. Weidy’s car is one of those. Its matte black finish has surely attracted major attention in its own way.
The Toyota GT86 is a sports coupé developed jointly by Japanese automobile manufacturers Toyota and its affiliate Subaru. It features a famous Subaru boxer engine, combined with a rear-wheel drive platform mastered by Toyota.
“86” (pronounced “eight-six” or Hachi-Roku (ハチロク), more commonly pronounced as “eighty-six”) refers back to the Toyota AE86, a popular and well-respected series of rear-wheel drive sports coupes and hatchbacks sold as the Toyota Sprinter Trueno and Toyota Corolla Levin from 1983 to 1987. As such, the Toyota GT86 has been named to be the spiritual successor of the original AE86. Bringing back the good ol’ times of simple, tune happy, rear wheel drive fun!
Having such mod-friendly car launched in the Indonesian market, Weidy can’t resist but to grab one of these and turn it into a blackened out monster. Awaiting a Zage turbo kit, the GT86 has been well prepped in all other areas including chassis reinforcement and braking ability.
Ken’s carbon exterior parts designed specifically for the Toyota 86 (and Subaru BRZ) fierces up the matte black appearance of the modern Hachi-Roku.
A set of monochromatic gunmetal-black finished BC Forged wheels took care of the car’s stance. A set of Toyo tires make sure the car will be capable of optimal acceleration and handling.
Inside the Hachi-Roku, a plenty of Ken’s performance carbon parts have been fitted to liven up the interior aesthetics, keeping up with the car’s performance.
